The initiative, supported by the UN, G7/G20, and World Economic Forum, aims to create shared standards for player protection and public health
A decisive step towards a global and scientifically grounded vision of responsible gambling. The
Six pillars for a sustainable future of gambling
The new RG3P Framework defines a comprehensive approach to player protection, based on scientific evidence and public health principles. The six pillars identify key areas for responsible governance of the sector:
1. Education and prevention – promoting awareness and informed decisions.
2. Early detection and intervention – identifying at-risk behaviors and intervening promptly.
3. Support and treatment – ensuring effective assistance and recovery pathways.
4. Gambling environment and marketing – reducing risks through ethical standards and transparent communication.
5. Ethics and accountability – ensuring responsible and verifiable practices by operators.
6. Research and sustainability – promoting ongoing studies and sustainable funding models for prevention.
“A common framework for player protection”
“The project was born to respond to the growing need for coordinated policies based on scientific data,” explains Shawn Fluharty, president of BGF and head of institutional relations at Play’n GO. “The goal is to build a sustainable future for gambling that protects citizens while supporting the economies revolving around the sector.”
Paul Pellizzari, vice president of Hard Rock International & Seminole Gaming, emphasizes the global and practical vocation of the initiative: “The RG3P provides a practical model adaptable to any jurisdiction, to strengthen existing measures and put public health at the center.”
“Gambling is not an enemy, but awareness is needed”
Francis Keyser, senior vice president of Everi Holdings also highlights how the framework aims to balance entertainment and responsibility: “Gambling is not harmful in itself, but in the digital context, it can generate new vulnerabilities, especially among young people. The six pillars of RG3P offer a reference point for addressing these challenges and promoting an ethical and sustainable approach.”
Brain health as a new paradigm
The initiative is part of the work of the Brain Capital Alliance, an organization that promotes ‘brain health’ as a fundamental resource for individual and collective well-being. In this vision, player protection is not just a regulatory issue, but a matter of public, economic, and social health, in line with the principles of sustainability and shared responsibility.
With the launch of the RG3P Framework, the Better Gambling Forum proposes a new global language for responsible gambling, destined to influence future prevention policies and governance strategies in the sector at an international level.
