New online gaming framework that mirrors its land-based model.
The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (Gcgra), says iGaming news, has revealed plans to introduce a new online gaming framework that mirrors its land-based model, granting each emirate the right to issue a single online gambling licence.
This development marks the country’s most concrete step toward establishing a structured, compliant iGaming ecosystem. So far, only Wynn Resorts has secured a land-based licence for its $5 billion integrated resort in Ras Al Khaimah.
Analysts predict that only select emirates will opt in for online operations, ensuring a controlled and phased rollout. Meanwhile, the Gcgra continues to approve B2B supplier licences, with recent authorisations granted to Hub88 Holdings Ltd and Sportradar Ag, paving the way for operational readiness.
This initiative not only strengthens the Uae’s stance in the Mena gaming sector but also sets a precedent for responsible innovation, transparency, and player protection.
