The online sports betting sector closed June 2026 with total spending of €120.3 million, an increase of 30.2% compared to the €92.4 million recorded in the same month of the previous year.
The increase is significantly driven by the FIFA World Cup currently taking place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, an event that dominates the betting markets of regulated operators.
Regarding the rankings, Lottomatica maintains its position as the sector’s leading operator with a market share of spending equal to 29.31%, consolidating the lead gained in previous months. The Rome-based operator remains the benchmark for the Italian online sector, supported by the momentum of major international football events and the comprehensiveness of its sports betting schedule.
DAZNBet, Sunbet, DomusBet, and Netwin accelerating
Among the operators with the most significant market share changes in June is DAZNBet, which achieved a 79% growth in its market share of spending. The result for DomusBet was also positive, advancing by 66.2%, followed by Admiral Bet with a 60% increase, Sportbet at +47.5%, and E-Play24 with an 8.4% improvement. Among smaller operators, Sunbet recorded a 75% change.
An even more marked progression for Netwin, which doubled its market share in June with a 100% increase compared to the same month in 2025, placing it among the key players in the growth wave linked to the World Cup calendar.
Bet365 and William Hill bucking the trend
The performance of some international operators active in the Italian market was the opposite. Bet365 ended the month with a 3.5% negative change in its market share of spending, while William Hill recorded a more significant decline of 11.5%. These two downturns occur within an overall expanding market context, which is reshaping the relative positioning of operators active in the authorized online betting segment.
The World Cup’s impact on sports betting markets
The tournament organized by FIFA in the three North American countries represents the main growth factor recorded in June. The outlook for the coming months remains tied to the international football calendar and the evolution of the autumn schedule, with operators’ attention already focused on the final rounds of the tournament and the restart of European club competitions, the traditional driver of betting volume in the second half of the year.
